Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU, prior to 1998.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Strip planked timber hull on oak frames, 30 planks replaced with iroko (2021), gloss painted in cream (2021).
  • Decks in teak, with continual maintenance, sector varnishing and some re-seaming (2021).
  • Wheelhouse in varnished mahogany (new roof 2021) with glazing treated to reflect UV and heat, thus preserving her interior joinery.
  • Brass stem-strip with painted heraldic crest picked out on highly varnished mahogany stem plate.
  • Brass rubbing strip to topsides (runs aft to protect aft gunwale).

Machinery

 

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • Twin Nanni N4.140 3.8L 4 cylinder inline, turbo-charged and intercooled 4-stroke diesel engines (2021).
  • Idle at 825 rpm, peak torque of 543.6 Nm @ 1600 RPM, and rated speed of 2600 RPM.
  • Mechanical direct fuel injection and closed cooling circuit with heat exchanger.
  • 12V/100Ah alternator per engine.
  • Ultraflex chromed single lever throttle/gear controls (2021).
  • TuffTorq reduction gearboxes by Kanzaki with 2:04 ratio.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine hours – approx. 45 as of December 2023.
  • Engine last serviced: July 2022.
  • Maximum cruising speed – approx. 13 knots.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • New stern-gear including couplings, shafts and propellers (2021).
  • Two–station hydraulic steering via highly-varnished six-spoke ships wheels (Simpson Lawrence lower wheel) to single rudder blade.
  • Sleipner Sidepower 12V bow-thruster with remote controls at both helms.

  • 24V foredeck windlass with independent supply and charging.

  • Eberspacher Hydronic MII D8W diesel heater (provides wet-therm heating & on-board water heating) (2021).
  • Climma air-conditioning for heating and cooling c/w 3 Vega Mk.II control panels to saloon, forward and aft cabins.
  • Multiple vents, passive dorade ventilators and opening windows/hatches.

 

Entertainment:

  • Wifi & router for on-board connectivity (2021).
  • Smart TVs to Saloon, Forward and Master cabins (2021).

  • Five berths in two cabins (aft Master with double berth, forward cabin with two single berths in low vee set-up – with upper single bunk to starboard).
  • Accommodation in beautifully executed high gloss mahogany joinery, with English Oak detailing, white glossed-painted panels, intricate bamboo flooring to galley area with compass rose motif, loose Scotchgarded blond carpet to main saloon, and blond carpets to cabins.

 

Description of layout from forwards:

  • Forward bows cabin with varnished timber door, varnished planked sides, with white-painted hull sides, roof and supporting beams. Overhead opening roof lantern, varnished, with blind. Independent air-conditioning control. Smart TV set into forward bulkhead. Three single berths (one lower to port, two to starboard including one bunk. Blond carpeted floor. Overhead 12V dome lighting. Opening circular brass port-lights (x4) and vents to forward bulkhead.
  • Galley aft of forward cabin – worktops and refrigerators to both sides, cooking to port, sink to starboard, with plenty of locker space and drawers – appliances detailed above. All cabinetry in high gloss mahogany – galley sole in inlaid bamboo marquetry (refurbished and re-laid 2021). Bulkheads and roof painted in high gloss white paint (2021). Opening circular brass port-lights (x4). Access to power demand equipment and domestic 12V switching panel.
  • Forward heads/shower room to starboard – aft of galley, with varnished door and high gloss mahogany joinery. Appliances detailed above. Overhead 12V dome lighting. Opening circular brass port-light. Varnished shower tray inset. Stainless shower-head fitting. Good lockers beneath sink plinth. Brass towel rail. Shower curtain.
  • Main saloon is up three steps from galley sole level. Lower helm console forward to port of companionway, with chart area to starboard, now including concealed LG Smart TV in bespoke hinged locker. Three forward windscreens with wiper to port (helms) screen, four windows to each side, with slide-opening glazed doors to each side, and two dropping windows to aft bulkhead (all windows treated to reduce UV entry into saloon). Independent air-conditioning control and heater control at console. Roof (including large slide-opening hatch) painted in high gloss white paint, with varnished crossbeams and bracing handholds. Recessed curtains to side windows. Brass tread-strips to steps. Clock and barometer to aft bulkhead and Thames Vintage Boat Club plaque (no.42). Overhead 12V dome lighting, and individual battery-driven picture light at aft bulkhead. Elegant candle-holders with reflecting mirrors to cabin sides. Central high gloss custom mahogany table to seat six. Blond bound carpet to cabin sole, with Persian rug. Access beneath forward saloon to machinery room, via timber sole hatches with brass grab handles – tank space aft. Two formal dining chairs, two leather-seated director chairs and two comfortable upholstered tub armchairs. Hinged cup/ashtray holders to each side aft.
  • Access aft via central companionway, with bronze stanchions, to aft Master cabin, via steps, with varnished timber door, varnished mahogany cabinetry, with white-painted hull sides. Overhead opening roof lantern, varnished, with blind. Overhead 12V dome lighting. Independent air-conditioning control and power monitor display. Fixed Smart TV set into forward bulkhead to starboard, with custom sideboard and hanging/storage locker beneath. Bookshelves to port forward bulkhead. Large double berth to starboard with three storage drawers beneath. Comfortable two-seater dressing sofa to port, with mahogany bureau aft, featuring two ranges of drawers, varnished mahogany desktop, and stool (with storage). Clock and barometer. Opening circular brass port-lights (x4).
  • Level access through varnished timber door to aft en-suite heads/shower room. White-painted hull sides, side panels, roof and supporting beams. Joinery executed in high-gloss varnished mahogany and contrasting high-gloss varnished English Oak. Varnished English Oak sole. Large shower to starboard with highly-varnished mahogany slatted tray, with hinged shower seat, shower curtain, brass shower fittings and holder, central electric-flushing WC, porcelain washbasin with brass taps on oak stand with locker beneath. Oak sideboard with lockers to port and Tankwatch monitor.

Deck Equipment

 

General:

  • Flush teak deck forward with highly varnished centre plank, lantern surrounds, wheelhouse margins and forward toe-rails.
  • Bronze stanchions, stainless steel guard-wires, and brass deck hardware, with forward ensign staff (varnished with gold-painted button) and brass socket.
  • Polished bronze dorade ventilators to coachroof, and forward bustle with pennant mast, air-horn, navigation lights, searchlight, radar on plinth, and side grab rails in highly varnished mahogany.
  • Two easy steps down to side decks, with brass tank fillers, boarding plates, copper tank breathers, etc.
  • Highly-varnished teak taff rail running aft, with hinged boarding gates.
  • Aft deck flat with full-beam lazarette beneath two hinged access hatches on gas struts (2021) and custom-built period aft navigation light. Aft ensign staff and socket to superstructure.
  • Raised aft deck accessed via removable varnished steps. Fully stanchioned with stainless steel guard-wires and highly-varnished teak taff rail. Highly-varnished deck lantern centre aft and knee-height varnished coffee table with edge leaves. Six wicker chairs with cushions. Highly-varnished centre plank, lantern surrounds and margins. Helm position forward with highly-varnished mahogany console and side trays.

Anchoring & Mooring Equipment:

  • 24V electric windlass (renovated 2021) to foredeck with Lewmar deck button operation for raising.
  • Warping drum to port, chain gypsy to starboard.
  • Galvanised chain (feeds into forward chain locker) servicing fishermans anchor, via stainless connecting shackles, with varnished mahogany anchor chocks.
  • Two forward bollards with brass wear trim.
  • Inlet brass forward fairleads, painted central warp fairlead and offset chain roller.
  • Bronze period amidships deck cleats, after cleats with fairleads, and aft navigation light,
  • Davey and Co. varnished boathooks in mahogany rests to wheelhouse coach-roof.
  • Heritage warps and fenders with new burgundy fender socks.

 

Covers, Canvas & Cushions:

  • Exterior console cover in sand canvas.
  • Forward winch cover in sand canvas.
  • Forward lantern cover in sand canvas.
  • Aft deck cover in sand canvas.
  • All over storage cover in sand canvas (reaches just above waterline).
  • Sand-coloured mesh covers to wheelhouse screens and windows.
  • All above items new during 2021/2 refit.

 

Tender & Outboard:

  • Two period manual davits with associated ropework and new fixings (2021).
  • Exquisite sailing/rowing tender with rig, tan sails, cover and associated items. Fully refurbished.

Safety Equipment

  • Ocean Safety ORC 6 person valise liferaft (2021/2 - service due 01/2025).
  • Ocean Signal EPIRB1 (2022).
  • Liferings (x2).

 

Fire-Fighting Equipment:

  • Portable 2.5 litre fire extinguishers through accommodation (2021 – last service date unverified).
