DESIGNERS COMMENTS:
“Our challenge for the 2017 has been the design of a masterpiece for the entire Bavaria Yachts production: the C45! For all the 40 years of history of the yard, the 45 ft have been one of the most important and popular boat size: a very hard task indeed, due to the great success of the last Cruiser 46.
The natural consequence was that an ordinary design was not enough for this new model, therefore we designed the first 45 ft with five cabins and the dinghy garage. Of course, this wasn’t the only request of the yard, indeed the C45 had to have a considerable number of possible layout combinations: from three to five cabins, from two to three heads and a storage room as well. Moreover, the C45 is the first model of the yard to come out different in three style packages, each one with specific characteristics to fit each possible need of all customers. The exterior design has been developed on the path of the C57 such that it creates a family feeling for the entire C-Line. This means that all the distinctive features of the flagship presented in January 2017 have been redesigned to perfectly fit the new model. The two-levels deck had become a distinctive feature of the line, and in this model, has been designed such that the coach roof results to be sleek even if it ensures the necessary interior volumes. In our opinion the privacy is strictly related with the comfort: for this reason, we pushed to ensure the three different sunbathing areas: at the bow, on top of the coach roof and on the cockpit.
The cockpit is featuring all the bigger yachts characteristics to ensure the maximum comfort: there is the clear distinction between the working area, located behind the steering wheels and the guest area. All the maneuvers have been designed to arrive at the helming position, such that the boat could be easily sailed by a reduced crew. In fact, there are two cockpit tables, one for each bench and this leaves a central passage that facilitate the access below deck without disturbing the seated guests. On the back of the cockpit there is space for the wet bar that includes the cockpit fridge and a BBQ. The huge bathing platform and the easy access to the sea is one of the key features that Bavaria has always offered to its customers, and of course had to be included in the new model as well. This time was even more complicate compared to the previous C57 experience because we had to include a dinghy garage on a boat size that has always been considered too small for her. This task was very demanding in terms of naval architecture, structural engineering and deck engineering, and it was solved with a significant effort of the entire design team.
The deck plan in the holiday and style versions has been designed for the easy sailing, the deck has been developed to bring all the running maneuvers to the helming positions. The ergonomic has been studied very carefully, positioning each deck gear such that it is easily reachable from a stand up or a sitting position. The self-tacking jib together with the mainsheet points on coach roof and the
gennaker tack on the bow are the best choice when the cruising purposes comes first, on the other hand it could be choose the standard jib tracks on deck, the mainsheet point in the cockpit and the gennaker tack on the bowsprit when there is the need for performances.
Hull and deck are built in hand lamination. The hull bottom in the forward and central area is made of single skin laminate to withstand the high loads deriving from the slamming the keel and mast, and on the aft and the side it is made by a sandwich for the best weight distribution. The longitudinal and transversal stiffness is ensured by the hull grillage and a side longitudinal stringer.
In the midsection of the boat, where is connected to a transversal frame that runs up to the shroud’s chainplates attachment area.
The deck stepped mast compression is transmitted to the hull bottom by a stainless-steel pillar connected to the hull structural inner liner.
The C45 has been designed for the Modutech system, the modular boat assembly introduced by Bavaria. The yacht structure is designed such that the interiors and systems can be assembled outside the boat and in a second moment could be installed in few steps inside the boat. This is possible thanks to structure that is designed to receive the bulkheads on the hull bottom and on the deck, and are glued or laminated on hull sides.
In the three-cabin layout, the owner cabin is located at the bow together with the private head with separate shower. A VIP cabin is located on aft portside and a standard double bedroom on starboard The classical L-shaped galley is located on portside just below the companionway to get the benefit of the widest section of the boat. The saloon is located between the galley and the main bulkhead.
A significant importance has been given to the positioning of the windows, in fact each opening has been designed to be at the proper eye height in every situation, both standing up or sitting on the sofa or laying in the bed.”
