The 45th PSP Southampton Boat Show is built on one of Europe's largest purpose-built marinas, with over 2km of pontoons. The ten day show will encourage visitors to get out on the water as well as giving them opportunities to marvel at the dazzling array of boats on dry land.
Hands-on Events
The emphasis this year is definitely, "Give it a try". The On The Water experience is designed to encourage visitors of all ages and levels of experience to explore the stunning variety of power and sailing boats, refresh old skills and even try out new ones. This initiative aims to encourage and educate the public to the accessibility and affordability of getting on the water and many of the attractions are free.
Interactive and educational learning sessions and shore based workshops will be available for those who want to gain extra tips and skills from the experts or learn about safety before heading out to sea. There will even be a chance to try your hand at solo sailing on one of the Figaro Beneteau 11s.
Exhibits
Exhibitors at the Boat Show cover every aspect of the marine industry from boat builders to marine finance and from clothing specialists and engine manufacturers to water makers and marine toilets. As well as the numerous exhibitors who have been present at the boat shows for years, this show will see many first timers. Visitors will also be able to board some of the 100 brand new launches making their debut at the show, as well as discovering a variety of Feature Boats representing marine history and the skill of British and International boat building.
Races
If speed is your passion you can watch the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship with the final on Sunday 15th September, or the Battle of the Classes Pursuit Race on Sunday 22nd September. On the other hand you can catch up on the America's Cup Race by watching highlights on the big screen.
Relaxation and Refreshment
With all the exhibits and experiences on offer you will need to take time out to relax and enjoy a bite to eat or a drink or two. There are bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes.
What And Where?
With such a lot on offer it is essential not to miss out. The Showguide can be ordered in advance or purchased at the door. It will keep you informed about everything going on with maps to help you find exhibits, attractions and places to eat and drink.
How To Get There
Only 1 mile from the city centre, 4 miles from the airport and with excellent views across Southampton Water, Mayflower Park is an ideal venue for this event. Southampton Central Station and the main bus station are only a short walk from the show, or you can take a free City Link bus to Town Quay. Although there is no car parking at the show entrance, there are 10,000 parking spaces in the city.
