In January this year, David Tydeman, Oyster CEO, announced that the Company had signed the contract to build the second Oyster 118 and associated with this, would be looking to expand its shipyard facilities in Southampton to be able to offer an earlier delivery date for 118-03 and 118-04.
Contracts have now been signed for an additional 15,000 sq ft of shed space, just a few hundred metres away from the Saxon Wharf facility and the mould tooling for the Oyster 118 was successfully installed in this new facility during April '17. Moulding of the hull and deck for Oyster 118-02 will start next week in this new facility and fit-out can now start as soon as moulding is complete without having to wait for Oyster 118-01 to clear the Saxon Wharf build shed where the build is progressing well and on schedule.
Moulding for 118-03 and 04 can now be brought forward such that a delivery for 118-03 can be autumn 2020 – a year earlier than previously possible.
This exciting investment in Superyacht production comes at a time when the company is also investing in the smaller end of its market with the recent announcement of the new Oyster 565 and 595, close on the heels of the new Oyster 675. Sharing a similar, yet smaller "G6" hull form with the Oyster 118, Oyster is delighted to announce that the first two of all three of these smaller yachts are sold, with hull number 3 of each of these models in closing stages for contracts.
